The director signs a sincere and touching feature film, where two opposing musical universes intertwine: rap and lyrical song.
Ouest France by Gilles Kerdreux
This comedy is fresh and sensitive, based on the theme of culture shock and social determinism.
Ecran Large by La Rédaction
Perhaps because he sincerely wanted to film this story, or simply because he always tries to base his story on a meaningful film grammar, Zidi Jr. succeeds in making his story always playful, fluid and lively.
L'Obs by Xavier Leherpeur
Michèle Laroque excels in the role of a lyrical aristocrat and MB14, a well-known rapper, is not content to play the cool handsome guy, he proves a convincing acting talent. A nice surprise.
Le Journal du Dimanche by S.B.
Despite a thinly-written script, we are seduced by this story of learning and emancipation which speaks of prejudice, transmission and diversity. Until the moving finale.
Le Parisien by La Rédaction
If the secondary roles are a little quickly written and the plot unsurprising, "Tenor" reveals a real talent for acting in MB14, finalist of "The Voice" against Slimane in 2016, then again close to victory in an All Stars edition in 2021. He just plays. Doesn't overdo it.
Télé 7 Jours by Julien Barcilon
It's true that we know the song, so often covered, but here it is interpreted with infinite accuracy by MB14 (...).
La Voix du Nord by Christophe Caron
So yes, everything in this Cyril Hanouna co-production is pretty much off the cuff and the cliché is never far away. But we have the right to appreciate MB14's first steps on screen.
Spectator Reviews
I was looking forward to seeing this novelty after the small selected extracts passed here or there.... And we all know that the cocktail Rap + Opera, if not explosive, is not common! Thank you Claude Zidi Jr, in this first real production, for having organised this duality, especially from M14 (Antoine) or Mohamed Belkhir (remember this name) and the dialogues attached to him, all the more in an opposite, hushed, luxurious context. Michèle Laroque is no stranger to the refinement of this film, by her elegance, her splendid role - not of a cougar ! - but as a coach and mentor, undoubtedly one of the most accomplished, dazzling. In this happy cast, two actors alone deserve ovations for their performances: Roberto Alagna's own role, and the young Marie Oppert ( Joséphine ) sublime. Of course, the script offers other strong scenes, notably of fighting, as Antoine's brother makes a lucrative business of it, as the job market in Bondy offers limited opportunities, and also of the fight against illness.....in all delicacy. What a magnificent photograph in general, especially around, inside - what a beauty - and on the roofs of the Paris Opera House! One of the most sumptuous monuments in the city, the night views are magical. And what a pleasure it is to savour these few tunes in these conditions .... One regret: the film is too short ..... You will probably have goose bumps and your heart will be shaken like me.... too well.... !!*
An excellent film about a pretty story but without pathos for once between a young suburbanite who discovers by chance his way and his musical voice interpreted by MB14 a real revelation. The film is really in the realm of reality since there are both real opera singers (and even an appearance by the great tenor Roberto Alagna) and rappers! And with a plethora of good actors such as Stéphane Debac or Michèle Laroque in a more nuanced role than her often bourgeois role and young actors born! I had a great time!!! Emotion and laughter
