under the statue of Augustus. Alagna, in that vein of a champion who gives off energy. The magic works. The result is beyond expectations, especially when you are at Verdi, where nothing is simple but the appearance " by Bruno Alberro for Ventoux-Opéra.
At the opera, Roberto Alagna is one of those champions who give energy. We saw him this Saturday evening at the Chorégies d'Orange where he shared the stage of the ancient theatre with the baritone Ludovic Tézier and the Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov. An imperial trio under the statue of Augustus. Could one dream of anything better? [...] Three performers on a huge stage without scenery and yet so full of their presence. And that is also the class: to occupy the space without any artifice other than one's street suit and polished shoes. Simply by being there with his voice and his charisma. And the magic worked, exceeding the audience's expectations. One only has to look at the encore, where the three partners left Verdi behind and moved on to other arias. [...] If the encore was festive, if the complicity of the three singers was perceptible, Alagna, Tézier and Abdrazakov had to convince even spectators who had already taken up their cause and their fame. And the result was beyond expectation, especially with Verdi, where nothing is simple but the appearance. One only has to remember Alagna's opening aria of Alvaro in La Force du Destiny, Tézier's plea for mercy to return his daughter in Rigoletto or the long tirade of Philippe II/Abdrazakov in Don Carlo.
