About the Beziers Competition
Since 1985, the Béziers International Opera Competition has been the opening event of the Béziers Opera Spring. Every second weekend in April, the stage of the Municipal Theatre resounds with the voices of young singers who, under the watchful eye and above all the watchful ears of the jury, compete for one of the prizes of this competition. The Béziers competition started modestly with 29 candidates more than thirty years ago, but today it is one of the most prestigious in France and more than a hundred young artists, future professionals of the lyric art, flock there knowing that a prize obtained in Béziers will favour their budding career.
