Press Review

Info-Chalon.com - Michel Poiriault - February 2025

Roberto Alagna displayed all his class in Chalon ... Wearing a handsome suit, the tenor unsurprisingly flourished, penetrating his character in a sensational way ... Aura nourished by impetuosity, as well as humour, always at hand ... A warm voice pushed to its limits, a fiery work tool with an expressiveness that jumps out at you and your ears ... An atypical evening in more ways than one ... Standing ovation and a Burgundian banquet.

EXCERPTS: "Roberto Alagna displayed all his class at the Espace des Arts in Chalon-sur-Saône. One of the world's leading operatic tenors, in this case Roberto Alagna, made a brief stop at the Espace des Arts in Chalon-sur-Saône on Friday 7 March. Not to glorify opera arias, but with the intention of putting the crook Al Capone back in the centre of the ring. [...]

Wearing a handsome suit, the tenor unsurprisingly flourished, penetrating his character in a sensational way. Endowed with an aura nurtured on impetuosity, as well as humour, always at hand. Then, and above all, there's the warmth of his voice, pushed to the limit, a fiery working tool with an expressive quality that's obvious to the eye... and to the ears, which are invigorated all the more. The Chicago of yesteryear, plagued by the underworld, once again displays a skilfully reworked profile. Maintained on the one hand by the charismatic star performer, and on the other by his on-stage singing partners Magali Bonfils and Thomas Boissy. The former took on the roles of the criminal's sister and mistress, while the latter played Frank, a brother, as well as Eliot Ness, an American member of Prohibition.
Whether with titles in French or Italian, Roberto Alagna has paved the way for his artistic double, nicknamed ‘Scarface’. Five musicians, including guitarist Jean-Félix Lalanne, were on hand to support the singing.

The last part of the show proved to be a novelty in this respect, as several singers from the audience were invited to take to the stage in a good-natured but not uninteresting atmosphere. They had their moment of glory, while a spectator drew lots to win a guitar co-signed by Roberto and Jean-Félix. The song “Le parrain” was the swan song of an evening that was atypical in more ways than one. The final curtsy from the audience was in favour of the inevitable Burgundian ban, a worthy counterpart to the standing ovation.

L'Est Eclair - Catherine Guibert - 11 January 2025

Roberto Alagna rocks Le Cube: the year 2025 began with an exceptional concert by the tenor, who enchanted the audience in Aubagne on Saturday 11 January

EXCERPTS : "The tenor captivated the audience with his extraordinary charisma ... With Thomas Boissy and Magali Bonfils at his side, they formed an exceptional trio with impeccable, powerful vocal performances ... Blending foxtrot, boogie, rock and Italian variety, the songs in Hors-la-loi, written and composed by Jean-Felix Lalanne who was on stage, offered a colourful and captivating musical journey into the world of 1930s gangsters.
Alagna's voice is as luminous as ever. But if the tenor impresses with the beauty of his tone, his vocal power and his technical mastery, he is just as remarkable for his simplicity, his sincerity and his kindness towards the audience. Particularly at the end of the concert, when he invited several audience members up on stage to share a few improvised songs with the orchestra. It was a rare moment of complicity with an artist who loves his art and wants to pass on the joy of singing to as many people as possib
