« La musique et le chant, par leurs origines mystérieuses, vous nous faire entrer, ce soir encore, dans les secrets de l'âme ». C'est par cette invitation personnelle de Son Altesse Sérénissime Le Prince Albert II que le public découvrait, samedi 9 août, le programme du concert exceptionnel animé par le ténor Roberto Alagna et la soprano Aleksandra Kurzak. Le couple princier assistait à cette prestigieuse soirée organisée au profit de la Fondation Prince Albert II créée en juin 2006 et qui œuvre, au sein de trois zones d'actions prioritaires (bassin méditerranéen, régions polaires, les Pays les Moins Avancés) pour « la protection de l'environnement et la promotion du développement durable à l'échelle mondiale ».

Une assistance aussi cosmopolite que la renommée de Monte-Carlo mêlait au hasard des rencontres sur le parvis, deux élégantes d'Ashrafieh, une imposante famille moscovite, des jumelles ukrainiennes de Kharkov, un couple autrichien de Bregenz, un autre de Bucarest. Du haut du Rocher, cette audience bigarrée de mélomanes pouvait commenter, avant le concert, la prestation de la Grande-Bretagne au Concours international des feux d'artifice pyromélodiques.

Présenté par le compositeur et pianiste Jean-François Zygel, le spectacle réunissait, dirigé par le maestro Giorgio Croci, « Les Solistes de Monte-Carlo », association de musiciens membres de l'orchestre philharmonique monégasque dont nous avions souligné, en janvier 2014, les engagements humanitaires lors d'un concert de soutien en faveur des Philippines au Musée océanographique. Le lauréat d'une Victoire de la Musique en 2006 et créateur sur France 2 de l'émission « La Boîte à musique » insistait, dans son introduction, sur la célébration des différentes facettes de l'amour dont celui des deux artistes lyriques, à la ville comme sur scène.

De retour des Chorégies d'Orange où il vient, sous la baguette du chef coréen, Myung-Whun Chun, de triompher dans Otello, Roberto Alagna a prolongé ce succès avec sa partenaire d'origine polonaise en exécutant le superbe duo verdien de cet opéra « Gia nella notte » : consécration de l'amour conjugal dont le ténor décline, de l'extrême puissance à l'infime fragilité, les accents vocaux les plus déchirants. Deux hautbois enchaînent ensuite une mélodie aux subtiles intonations ashkénazes pour l'accompagner dans le grand air « Rachel » de La Juive composé par Jacques Fromental- Halévy et programmé en clôture de la prochaine saison lyrique à l'opéra Nice-Côte d'Azur. Son poignant fortissimo sur le « moi » (« c'est moi qui te livre au bourreau ») est grandiose. Tout comme son désespoir intérieur projeté dans « E lucevan le stelle » de Tosca, contrepointé musicalement par la clarinette solo de Jean-Louis Dedieu. Aleksandra Kurzak excelle à son tour dans un tourbillonnant « Una voce poco fa », l'aria de Rosina au début du second tableau de l'acte I d'Il Barbiere di Siviglia de Gioacchino Rossini, enchaînant avec une aisance phonique doublée d'une malice scénique, les multiples vocalises aiguës. De son timbre brillant, elle comble l'audience avec l'ariette « Je veux vivre » du Roméo et Juliette de Charles Gounod, nous gratifiant d'une virtuosité de colorature dans des suraigus stables et cristallins. Les deux chanteurs conjoignent leurs talents dans les autres duos lyriques, entrecoupés de l'intermezzo du Cavalliera Rusticana de Pietro Mascagni ou de l'ouverture d'Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Il fallait bien une canzone de Naples « Senza Nisciuno » sur des arrangements des frères de Roberto Alagna pour conclure, sous les ovations debout de la Cour d'Honneur, ce mémorable Summer Dream monégasque.

"Trois jours seulement après son triomphe aux Chorégies d'Orange dans Otello, le ténor Roberto Alagna a redonné de la voix hier soir dans le cadre prestigieux et intimiste de la cour d'honneur du palais princier de Monaco. Et c'est juste après les dernières salves d'un superbe feu d'artifice que les premières notes se sont fait entendre. Roberto Alagna était accompagné sur la scène de sa concubine et maman de sa dernière fille, la soprano Aleksandra Kurzak, et par l'Orchestre des Solistes de Monte-Carlo dirigés par Giorgio Croci. Les soirées Summer Dream organisées au profit de la fondation Albert II sont une vraie réussite depuis 3 ans. Mais hier soir, plus une chaise de libre sur les 1100 prévues. Il faut dire que le répertoire, placé sous le signe de l'Amour, était des plus romantiques. Les spectateurs ont pu vibrer, entre autres, sur les airs de Roméo et Juliette de Gounod, ou de Gio Della Notte de Verdi. Et la présence du Prince Albert et de son épouse Charlène, épanouie en femme enceinte, n'a pas manqué d'ajouter ce je-ne-sais-quoi qui fait la marque des soirées mémorables."

"Music and singing, with their mysterious origins, will bring you, tonight again, into the secrets of the soul". It is through this personal invitation of His Serene Highness the Prince Albert II that, on Saturday, Aug. 9th, the audience discovered the program of the special concert animated by the tenor Roberto Alagna and the soprano Aleksandra Kurzak. The princely couple attended the prestigious event organized for the Prince Albert II 's Foundation. A foundation created in June 2006 that works in three priority action areas (Mediterranean Basin, Polar regions, Least Developed Countries) for the environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable development on a global scale. "

An audience as cosmopolitan as Monte Carlo's fame, mingled on the square, through chance encounters, two elegant from Ashrafieh, an imposing family from Moscow, two Ukrainian twin ladies from Kharkov, an Austrian couple from Bregenz, another from Bucharest. From the top of the Rock, this motley audience of music lovers could comment before the concert, the performance of Great Britain in the International Competition of musical fireworks.

Presented by the composer and pianist Jean-François Zygel, the show brought together, conducted by Maestro Giorgio Croci, the "Soloists of Monte Carlo", a music association of members of the Monaco Philharmonic Orchestra of which we have already talked in January 2014, highlighting their humanitarian commitment on the occasion of a charity concert for the Philippines at the Oceanographic Museum. Back from the "Choregies d'Orange" where he was triumphing a very few days before in Otello conducted by the Korean Maestro Myung-Whun Chun, Roberto Alagna extended this success with his Polish companion by performing the superb duet from this Verdi's opera, "Gia nella notte"; A pure consecration of conjugal love that the tenor delivers with the full range of the most heartbreaking vocal accents, from extreme power to slight fragility.
Two oboes then continue with a melody made of subtle Ashkenazi intonations to accompany the great aria "Rachel" from "La Juive" composed by Jacques Halévy Fromental - and programmed at the end of the next opera season at the Opera Nice-Côte d'Azur. His poignant fortissimo on the "moi" ("c'est moi qui te livre au bourreau") is awesome. Just like his inner despair projected in "E lucevan le stelle" from Tosca, musically counterpointed by the clarinet solo Jean-Louis Dedieu.

Aleksandra Kurzak excels in her turn in a swirling "Una voce poco fa," the Rosina's aria at the beginning of the second table of Act I in 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia' by Gioacchino Rossini, chaining multiple top notes' vocalizations with a great acoustic ease coupled with a mischievous theatrical presence. With her bright tone, she gladdened the audience with the aria "Je veux vivre" from Romeo et Juliette by Charles Gounod, gracing us with a coloratura virtuoso in stable and crystalline top high register.

Both singers blended their talent in other opera duets, interspersed with the intermezzo from Pietro Mascagni 'Cavalliera Rusticana' or the opening of 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia'. There indeed had to be a Neapolitan canzone, "Senza Nisciuno", arranged by Roberto Alagna's brothers so as to conclude that memorable Summer Dream in Monaco, under the Courtyard's standing ovations."

"Three days after his triumph at the 'Choregies d'Orange' in Otello, the tenor Roberto Alagna made his voice heard again last night in the prestigious and intimate set of the courtyard of the Prince's Palace in Monaco. And the first notes were heard just after the last shots of a beautiful fireworks. Roberto Alagna was on stage alongside his companion and mum of his youngest daughter, the soprano Aleksandra Kurzak, and the Orchestra of Monte Carlo Soloists conducted by Giorgio Croci. The Summer Dream Evenings organized for the benefit of the Albert II Foundation are a true success for 3 years. But last night, not a single empty chair out of the 1,100 rented. It must be said that the program, focused on the theme of love, was very romantic. The audience filled with emotion was able to warm, among others, to the aria of Gounod's "Romeo and Juliet", or "Gio Della Notte" by Verdi. And the presence of Prince Albert and his wife Charlene, radiant as a pregnant woman, did not fail to add that sort of something that makes the hallmar
